"Boutelis" by Youssef Meksi

When and where?

Tuesday 10 May 2022 at 2pm and 3pm

Cité de la Culture - Tunis

"Boutelis" is that elusive, inner, youthful and evasive voice, sometimes benevolent but often dreaded. "Boutelis" is a varied register of moods, half soothing, half melancholic, bearing hope and a better tomorrow. "Boutelis' is about transforming a parasomnia into an artistic work of art, from darkness to light, from immobility to trance and from melancholy to festivity. It is this state of hypnopompe that Youssef Meksi invites us to share with him in this project with the fusion of acoustic and electronic sounds, all with prose in Tunisian dialect resonating with the unique timbre of his voice. Through singing, Youssef explores his different vocal abilities throughout the project.

Youssef Meksi is a professional musician and actor. He is a multi-instrumentalist, composer and performer. He has just composed the album for a dance theatre show "The beginning of the End". He is currently working on his new album "Boutelis", a mixture of electronic and acoustic music, which reflects intimate thoughts, personal obsessions and unacknowledged ideas that have long been clashing.
