Hamida, Naima, Latifa … evoke with nostalgia the golden period of l’École des Cadres de Bab Djedid, when they obtained their professional diploma in embroidery, sewing, drawing etc. back in the sixties. This specialized school, which has trained generations of girls from all over the country by providing them with a qualitative and original education, has disappeared for several years, replaced by a public high school. "Forward stitch - Backward stitch " plunges us into this forgotten part of the educational history of the country. 


A quasi-archaeological work is being carried out : material excavations in the form of the collection and classification of archives found on the spot and scattered in other places, and immaterial excavations in the form of surveys and discussions with former students and residents of the neighbourhood … A plunge into a kind of dialectical temporality caught up, punctuated by dates, photographic traces, files, school notebooks and other documents specific to this period…
