Neither didactic nor documentary, neither pedagogical nor anthropological, Libya explores the notion of “knowledge” through the energy of its nine performers. Somewhere between performance, dance and rap, Libya uses family history and History with a capital H to talk about memory and legacy via the body and art.
In North Africa, crafts, inventions, science, cultures and philosophy of the Amazighs are passed down and perpetuated traditionally through stories, language, dance and song. Dancer and choreographer Radouan Mriziga wanted to celebrate this legacy, which also resonates with his family and with forms of Western knowledge through a human and artistic epic. It was a way for him to reappropriate History, to connect it to the present , and to share it, by opening it up to range of perspectives - Amazighs, all Mediterranean peoples, the world at large.
